Foreign Affairs Information Technology (IT) Fellowship Program in USA, 2017


Foreign Affairs Information Technology (IT) Fellowship Program funded by the U.S. Department of State and administered by the Washington Center (TWC). The Fellowship Program provides outstanding students with an opportunity to pursue an IT-related degree course.
Foreign Service Information Management Specialists support and maintain hundreds of applications and provide IT services domestically and abroad at over 275 overseas posts in nearly 200 countries.The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars, less formally known as The Washington Center, is an independent, nonprofit organization serving hundreds of universities in the United States and other countries.
Course Level: Fellowships are available for pursuing undergraduate and master programme.
Study Subject: Fellowships are awarded in an IT-related field.
Scholarship Award:
  • Undergraduate Fellows (those beginning their junior year in fall 2017): Up to $37,500 annually for tuition, room and board, books, mandatory fees 
  • and some travel expenses for junior and senior years of undergraduate studies related to an Information Technology field.
  • Graduate Fellows (those beginning a graduate program in fall 2017): Up to $37,500 annually for tuition, room and board, books, mandatory fees and some travel expenses for a two-year master’s degree in an IT-related field.
  • Two summer internships, one at a domestic office of the Department of State in Washington, D.C. and one overseas at a U.S. embassy or consulate. The program provides stipends, transportation and housing for these internships.
  • Orientation to the Program and the Foreign Service at the Department of State.
  • Mentoring from a Foreign Service IMS throughout the duration of the fellowship.
  • Employment in the Department of State Foreign Service for those who successfully complete the program and Foreign Service IMS entry requirements.
  • Scholarship can be taken in the USA
    Eligibility:  
    Undergraduate Fellowship
    • Applicants must be United States citizens.
    • Applicants must be in the sophomore year of undergraduate study at a U.S. undergraduate institution.
    • Applicants must be expecting to receive their bachelor’s degree in spring 2019.
    • Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale at the time of application and this grade point average must be maintained throughout participation in the program.
    • Applicants must be able to attend June 2017 orientation in Washington, D.C. if selected.
    • Applicants must be available to fulfil the summer internship obligations (summer 2018 & summer 2019)
    • Applicants must be prepared to enter the Foreign Service in fall 2019.
    Graduate Fellowship
    • Applicants must be United States citizens.
    • Applicants must be seeking admission to a U.S. graduate school beginning in fall 2017.
    • Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale at the time of application and this grade point average must be maintained throughout participation in the program.
    • Applicants must enrol in a two-year, full-time master’s degree program at U.S. based graduate institutions only, in an academic field relevant to Information Technology. Applicants must be able to attend June 2017 orientation in Washington, D.C. if selected.
    • Applicants must be available to fulfil the summer internship obligations (summer 2018 & summer 2019)
    Applicants must be prepared to enter the Foreign Service in fall 2019.
    Nationality: United States citizens are eligible to apply for this fellowship programme.
    College Admission Requirement
    Test Requirement: Applicants are required to submit GRE/GMAT scores.

    • Your most recent Student Aid Report (SAR)
