Évente több mint kétezer diák tanul magyarul a világ huszonhat országában. A napokban indulnak útnak a külföldi egyetemeken magyar nyelvet oktató tanárok, hogy munkájukkal a magyar kultúrát népszerűsítsék.

– A Balassi Intézetben – jogelődei révén – hatvan éve folyik a magyar mint idegen nyelv oktatása, harmincöt éves a vendégoktatói hálózatunk, magyar intézeteink közül pedig a legrégebben alapított isztambuli éppen most lett százéves. Komoly hagyomány áll tehát mögöttünk, van miből építkeznünk – mondja Hammerstein Judit, a Külgazdasági és Külügyminisztérium külföldi magyar intézetekért és nemzetközi oktatási kapcsolatokért felelős helyettes államtitkára.

Az elmúlt évtizedekben egyre több külföldi egyetemen kellett szembesülni a magyar tanszék, illetve a vendégoktatói helyek megszűnésével, ezt megakadályozandó általános gyakorlattá vált a finanszírozás állami átvállalása, majd a 2014-es és a legújabb, 2017-es kormányhatározat nyomán megkezdődött a vendégoktatói hálózat megerősítése.
A keleti és déli nyitás programjához kapcsolódóan 2020-ig újabb huszonnégy, stratégiailag jelentős helyszínnel bővül a vendégoktatói hálózat, így három év múlva már hetven, külföldi egyetemen magyar nyelvet oktató tanár munkája járul majd hozzá Magyarország népszerűsítéséhez.

Ráadásul én eljövök az országból, a hallgató viszont ott marad, és életre szóló élmény lesz számára, hogy járt Magyarországon, és tanult magyarul. Évtizedek múlva is mesélni fogja.
Bedecs László ezekkel a tapasztalatokkal felszerelkezve indul a következő napokban Bakuba. A kérdés már csak az, hogy vajon milyen ételkülönlegességgel készül majd az ottani, bemutatkozó magyar estre. Mert Szófiában első alkalommal gyümölcslevest és mákos gubát készített a feleségével – mind a negyven adag a nyakukon maradt. Ebből tanulva, a következő esten magyaros zsírosdeszka-partit rendeztek egy filmvetítés mellett. Ennek sem volt sikere: rajtunk marad még a bélyeg is, hogy ezek a barbár magyarok nyers zsírt esznek.
De a gulyás, a pörkölt bevált. Nem a különbséget kell megmutatni, hanem a hasonlót, ami úgyis eltér valamilyen mértékben, vonta le a tanulságot a lektor, és legközelebb már arról beszélgetett a tanítványaival, hogy ők a rakott krumpliba padlizsánt is tesznek, mi viszont jó sok tejfölt.
– Vendégoktatóinkra úgy tekintünk, mint kiváló kulturális diplomatákra, akik helyismeretüknek köszönhetően különösen hangsúlyosan közvetítik értékeinket. Többen közülük olyan városban dolgoznak, ahol nemhogy magyar kulturális intézet, de külképviselet sincs, így ott vendégoktatóként ők képviselik hazánkat.
Ezeken a helyeken különösen nagy jelentősége van annak, hogy nemcsak a kötelező egyetemi órák megtartásával, hanem a magyar kultúra szélesebb értelemben vett bemutatásával, koncertek, kiállítások szervezésével is népszerűsítik az országot a nagyközönség előtt – mondja Hammerstein Judit. – Szeptemberben várhatóan lezárul a vendégoktatói hálózat szabályozása, amelynek eredményeként november 1-jétől új ösztöndíjazási rendszer lép életbe.
A 2019–2020-as tanévtől kezdődően 1,5 millió forintos keret áll majd minden vendégoktató rendelkezésére, de nem automatikusan, hiszen aki gyenge pályázatot nyújt be, előfordulhat, hogy egy fillért sem kap tervei megvalósítására, míg az, aki ambiciózus programmal áll elő, akár három-négymillió forintos programkerettel is rendelkezhet arra az évre.
